City Light & Power (CLP) is a company at the forefront of the modern day electric utility industry.  We support the Federal Government in the area of military installations and their electrical distribution systems, as well as with local municipalities in the area of street lighting systems. Reports to:          Purchasing Manager

Position:              Full-Time salary commensurate with experience


Responsible for ensuring on time delivery commitments by manufacturers and distributors post purchase order for utility power equipment, hardware and supplies for multiple military base locations and municipal street lighting operations.  Expedite high priority equipment orders as necessary to meet required delivery schedules while maintaining real time status communications to all internal stakeholders, including local and executive management. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes priorities, schedules, coordinates, monitors and negotiates throughout the manufacturing life cycle to ensure total purchasing for projects and customer support.

  • Engages in a high degree of collaboration and communication with Manufacturers, Manufacturing Representatives, Suppliers and Distributors to ensure quality compliance, on time delivery and support to CLP and our operations teams.

  • Coordinates with Engineering and the Manufacturer to ensure readiness for factory visits and testing.

  • Monitors and maintains order due dates to ensure validity and aggressively, negotiates order delivery dates when required.

  • Contacts suppliers to expedite procured material to support site urgency requirements when required.

  • Participates in kickoff meetings between CLP and manufacturers and status meetings specific to mile stone reporting and tracking.

  • Develops and prepares reports

  • Analyzes reasons for part shortages to aid in prevention

  • Leads procurement projects as assigned by Manager

  • Manage professional relationships with vendors and clients.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field highly preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of supply chain management/purchasing/expediting related experience required, utility or manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization and vendor community.

  • Detail oriented and organized able to manage and track multiple orders at the same time.

  • Ability to respond quickly to problems and work in a high pace stressful environment.

  • High proficiency in all Microsoft Office products with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technology.

  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Government Contracts is considered very beneficial.


  • Up to 30% out-of-the-area and overnight travel will be expected.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

  • You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.  Military Base Access is required for this position.
