Formerly named Magnolia Ave, the Queensway Bridge was built in 1967 before the arrival of the Queen Mary. Famously know for its colorful lights, the bridge is located over the Los Angeles River and can be seen from the Aquarium of the Pacific, The Queen Mary and surrounding hotels.
As part of our contract with the City of Long Beach, California; Every year City Light & Power crews evaluate and maintain the system to ensure the bridge keeps its unique feature.
Below crew members Nick Dunham and Jeff Noriega can be seen (left to right) lowering the under-bridge platform over the side of the bridge, trimming trees covering fixtures and moving from one fixture to the next. The project took 1-1/2 days to complete. 46 lamps. 3 ballast and 5 capacitors were replaced.
