Environmental Specialist

City Light & Power, Inc. (CLP) has built a reputation as an innovative, reliable and responsive private utility development leader, and is seeking qualified candidates with 5+ years of Environmental studies to ensure environmental regulatory compliance across all our locations around the United States.

 Key Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee multidisciplinary environmental compliance associated with CLP’s operations across the United States

  • Act as CLP Representative for county, state, federal, & Installation Environmental Oversight committees and regulatory agencies

  • Interface with Government Installation Environmental and coordinate joint efforts throughout projects to minimize adverse environmental impacts

  • Facilitate all operations and project permits and approvals

  • Prioritize and ensure environmental compliance with all regulatory entities

  • Manage all CLP environmental programs and implement compliance protocols

  • Establish and implement Best Management Practices (BMPs)

  • Ensure compliance with: Endangered Species (ESA); Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA); Shoreline Management Act (SMA); Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC); Stormwater Management (SWM); Hazardous Waste & Materials; Solid Waste; Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC); OSHA HAZCOM; Pest Management Programs; National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System; RCRA; TSCA; CERCLA; NEPA; CAA; CWA; FIFRA; SDWA; FWCA; ESA & Section 7 Consultations; EPCRA; etc.

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university - Required (Degree in Environmental Studies preferred)

  • 5-7 of relevant work experience - Required

  • Working experience with environmental regulatory standards and compliance practice

  • Knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements in multiple states (Washington, Maryland, California, and New York preferred)

  • Experienced in working with and developing environmental programs

  • Experienced with training staff pursuant with applicable environmental programs

  • Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project

  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills

  • Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish

Travel:

  • Up to 30-50% out-of-the-area and overnight travel will be expected.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

  • Military Base Access Required

  • Valid Driver’s License Required
